Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt by Sharon

Sharon who is relatively new to quilting hand pieced this sweet Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt.

I like her arrangement which looks like a bouquet or just how a flower garden might look.  Traditionally each flower has a yellow center and if you look closely you can see that Sharon embroidered flowers in the white spacer hexagons. Sharon also embroidered her initials and the year she completed the quilt, a very good idea, we should all be labeling our quilts in some way.

Sharon wanted a light flowery pantograph for this quilt and chose Daisies Galore by Irene Steele.

  1. Beautiful! I didn't know yellow is the traditional center color! I guess I made a great choice with yellow for my centers.
